As promised we avoided all social media and email blasts the day after you funded us, because we were feeling terrible at the end of our Kickstarter campaign for all the “spam” we were pumping out. Annoying as it may have felt (sorry for everyone contacted two or three times by us on multiple mediums!), it worked.
All told, during our month long Kickstarter a rolling cast of about a dozen people helped me personally contact between 8,000 and 10,000 people who follow me on either Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or who are a contact in my phone. We also had phone banks set up and I sent hundreds of personal emails to friends, family and former coworkers, sometimes finishing the last one at 4 or 5am (I napped all day Monday in between watching True Detective; now I get what everyone had been talking about all this time…).
But your support and spreading the word is what made it all possible. On the final day of the campaign you created so much buzz about the project that we saw a spike in donations from people we never reached out to, and that’s what pushed us over the top!
I can’t express how grateful I am that my trusted crew of 10 or so will now get the pay checks they deserve (and need)!
But now we move on to the next stage of the project: Shooting Season 1. As a producer commented in glee after reaching our goal: “We have fully entered the realm of Super Low Budget.” And we couldn’t be more thrilled about it!
The $36,000 we raised gives us the financing we need to travel around to East Coast breweries, filming with the creative freedom we wouldn’t enjoy if we had to rely on a studio or media giant for funding.
As we all recover from the intensity of the Kickstarter, we’re slowly regrouping and figuring out what days and weeks work best for the the crew to hit the road and start filming. Lawmakers are clamoring to be on, so we have no shortage of subjects. Now we just have to decide who has the most compelling stories to tell.
We’ll make sure to keep fresh content up on the site as we shoot the next five episodes, so watch for new blogs and creative shorts to roll out in the coming weeks that don’t take too much time but keep our fan base growing.
The best way to stay up to date on our content is to sign up for our email alerts below. There should only be one or two email alerts for new content a week.
We love you and are excited that you put faith in our project and crew. We won’t let you down!
